Why Wisconsinites Should NOT Vote for Alex Lasry

Wisconsinites should NOT vote for Alex Lasry for U.S. Senate in 2022 because REASONS!

Those reasons are as follows:

(Re-read that in Perd Hapley voice at your own discretion)

  1. Alex Lasry is from New York. More importantly, Alex Lasry is MORE from New York than he is or ever will be from Wisconsin.

  2. Alex Lasry never stepped foot in Wisconsin until his dad, Marc Lasry, became one of the owners of the Milwaukee Bucks (only cost $550 million in 2014). If his dad bought a different NBA team - like say the Atlanta Hawks - Alex Lasry might never have set foot in Wisconsin, except maybe for a the occasional road game matchup.

  3. Wisconsin has given Alex Lasry enough already.

  4. Wisconsin is not a “rental” state when it comes to U.S. Senate seats. A “rental” is a slang term often used to describe a player acquired via trade in the last year of their contract. New York is actually the state that “rents” it’s Senators. See: Hillary Clinton, Bobby Kennedy, New York.. Remember that Yankees cap Hillary donned desperately looking for New York street cred? A Chicago native, Hillary was a lifelong Cubs fan. The Senate is worth a ball cap. She and Bill just couldn’t afford to buy a whole team. The Lasry family on the other hand could afford to buy a whole team. We shouldn’t give the NBA team owners a Senate seat to go with it.

  5. Wisconsin is The Dairy State. We milk cows. We are not the cow to be milked. The Lasry family has already milked its share from our great state! Wisconsin taxpayers subsidized the construction of Fiserv Forum. Bucks team owners and Lasry-friendly Democrats are already laying down coverfire that Wisconsin is getting a return on that investment. Isn’t that generous enough of a gift for one family for one lifetime… or even 4-5 lifetimes? They were in line for one of the biggest taxpayer subsidies in state history before they ever even paid taxes in this state. How many years/generations has your family lived and paid taxes in Wisconsin? How many stadiums has the state of Wisconsin helped you build?

  6. Follow-up: Have any of the Lasry’s ever said “Thank you!” for the generous assistance the State of Wisconsin offered them? Seriously! In Wisconsin we say “Thank you!” when someone holds the door open for us (which is far more common here than in New York adjusted per capita). I can’t imagine what a Wisconsinite would say if we built them an arena. They’d probably shovel our walk for 5 generations and let us use their good Tupperware.

  7. Wisconsin voters have born and raised in Wisconsin options in this Democratic Primary. Mandela Barnes, Sarah Godlewski, Steven Olikara, and previously Tom Nelson (who just dropped out and endorsed Barnes) ALL have very tried and true Wisconsin backstories. They have lived Wisconsin experiences. They have Wisconsin histories. Most importantly, their stories reflect the lives that many Wisconsinites live every day. Who better to represent the Wisconsin Democratic Party, and all Wisconsinites should they win in November, than authentic Wisconsin voices who know what it means to be from this part of the our country. Alex Lasry, nor anyone else, can ever learn those Wisconsin experiences. The U.S. Senate needs more Wisconsin values. It does not need New York values by way of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Argus would also like to put forward a few tests for future use:

  1. If Alex Lasry loses: How long does it take before he, his wife, and child move out of Wisconsin?

  2. If Alex Lasry wins: Where will his wife work and where will his daughter go to school? Washington, DC or Milwaukee, WI (or nearby Wisconsin)?

Wisconsin Argus Pledge:

If Alex Lasry falls in the August 9th Democratic Primary or in the November General Election and stays in Wisconsin for this full 6-year Senate term, he should justly be absolved of all criticisms of carpetbagging. At that point Wisconsin Argus will gladly admit that he has earned his Wisconsin card and deserves a criticism-free shot at being duly elected to a Wisconsin U.S. Senate seat.

As of 2022, Lasry is still too New York and not enough Wisconsin. If he sticks around for another handful of years, he will have a better understanding of what Wisconsin is all about. That we are more than just a cow to be milked for everything it is worth.
