Speaker Robin Vos vs. Adam Steen: Round II

Just when Wisconsin Assembly Republican Speaker Robin Vos (@speakervos) thought it was safe to waltz into re-election after narrowly vanquishing Republican Primary opponent Adam Steen (@steenforus)…

Adam Steen, endorsed by former President Donald J. Trump and former Justice Mike Gableman in his failed bid to defeat Rep. Vos in the #Republican Primary, has announced he will challenge Vos as a write-in candidate in November.

As a write-in, Steen will have an uphill battle, however, he can hope that his motivated #MAGA supporters combined with motivated Democrats could be enough of a wedge to overcome Vos’s traditional Republican core of support.

Speaker Vos was first elected to the State Assembly in 2004 and is the longest serving Speaker in Wisconsin history, taking the post in 2013. That alone would make falling to a write-in candidate a newsworthy event. However, Vos’s relentlessly aggressive pursuit of conservative policies, and success in enacting game-changing reform, yet still be challenged by a former President from his own party, would make the upset a huge story.

Speaker Vos was instrumental in many of former Governor Scott Walker’s reforms and projects from Act 10 to Foxconn. Vos was in “the room where it happens” every step of the way

Vos also led the charge to roll back several powers that the Republican-controlled State Legislature had granted to Walker before Tony Evers was sworn into office in a truly shrewd political move that his conservative caucus and Wisconsin Republicans have largely admired. Vos is as close to a conservative talk radio darling as there could possibly be.

Since Walker fell to now-Governor Tony Evers (@tony4wi), Vos - the so-called “Shadow Governor” has been a staunch opponent of nearly every proposal Gov. Evers has tried to pursue. Vos was especially combative towards Evers on #COVID shutdowns, mask mandates. Vos and Evers have a well-documented icy personal relationship.

If Vos, a staunch Republican by any sane measure, were to fall to a #MAGA, Big Lie political newcomer runnin as a write-in candidate, it would make national headlines. The glee of more liberal mainstream media outlets would know no bounds (not naming names @journalsentinel @cnn and @msnbc).

Tomorrow never knows, but WE should know come November 8th if this long shot pays off.
