Speaker Robin Vos Narrowly Bests Trump-Endorsed Primary Challenge

Wisconsin State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (@speakervos) overcomes a Republican Primary challenger, Adam Steen (@steenforus), who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump and Vos-appointed special investigator, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman.

Early returns showed Steen with a slim advantage, but the Vos vote quickly rolled in giving Vos the win with 5084 votes to 4824 votes for Steen (unofficial).

Trump held a rally in Wisconsin just days before the Primary to support Tim Michels for Governor. Trump endorsed Adam Steen and invited him to participate in the rally after Vos refused to support overturning or “decertifying” the 2020 election results in Wisconsin.

Trump has asked Vos repeatedly to overturn the results and Vos has repeatedly refused. Vos has stated that he lacks the authority to overturn the 2020 election results which is commonly agreed upon, even by conservative groups such as the Wisconsin Institute of Law & Liberty (@wi_lawliberty).

Michael Gableman, who was hired by Vos as a special investigator to analyze possible voter fraud and other possible irregularities in the 2020 Presidential Election, also waited until just days before the August 9th Primary to endorse Vos’s opponent.

One could speculate that Vos hired Gableman to placate Donald Trump and avoid an intra-GOP squabble. The taxpayer funded investigation - costing taxpayers over $1 million and paying Gableman $10,000 per month - was terminated by Vos shortly after the Primary slash Gableman betrayal.

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Justice Gableman! Especially when it doesn’t even have the constitutional authority to do so!
