Gov. Evers Vetoes His own Darn Bills

District maps proposed by Governor Tony Evers that were modestly modified by the Republican Legislature were vetoed by Governor Tony Evers.

Yeah. No. That’s not a typo.

You did not read that wrong.

In a way, Governor Evers vetoed his own maps.

This just weeks after Governor Evers vetoed Republican legislation to implement the “Iowa Model” for nonpartisan redistricting that Gov. Evers previously said he supported.

Governor Tony Evers goes full Marty Byrde

Why does Gov. Evers keep vetoing bills that he says he wants?

Is there a catch to this partisan flip flop accusation?

It’s modern Wisconsin politics… of course there’s a catch!

Gov. Evers claims that the so-called Iowa Model proposed by Republicans is more of an Iowa Model in name only. Something liberal media has been quick to support, and with Speaker Robin Vos being the driving force behind the new Iowa Model pitch, few hesitated to believe that perhaps it was not completely genuine.

As for Gov. Evers vetoing a modified version of his own electoral maps…

The Evers Map “paired” a number of GOP incumbents against other GOP incumbents. So not only are his maps likely to reduce GOP seats, they will also force GOP incumbents to cannibalize each other or retire.

Essentially, just Democrats gently twisting the knife they have plunged into the chest of the GOP Legislative majority.

Republicans voted to accept the chest plunging if only they could protect a few more incumbents.

The Evers veto of his own maps (with modest GOP edits) confirms that Democrats will not be settling for redistricting that simply stabs the GOP Majority in the chest.

Wisconsin Democrats want to twist that redistricting knife as hard as they can.
