COVID-19 Vaccine Incentive Program to Payout $14.24 Million

WORTH IT???

Wisconsin will have to pay a total of $14.24 million dollars to participants who got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine during a special promotional period between August 20 and September 19, 2021.

In total, 142,400 Wisconsin residents aged 12 and over received their first vaccine dose during the promotion entitling each of them to a $100 U.S. Bank Rewards Card if they submit the required form.

While upwards of $14 million may seem like a lot of money to some, others argue that it is a small price to pay to increase the Wisconsin vaccination rate to help keep schools and businesses open and fully operational.

The $14.24 million only accounts for the incentive payout if all participants complete the required paperwork. That dollar amount does not include the expense of advertising the program or other related expenses.

As reported by WPR, at the close of the state program, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced that the city will launch a similar incentive program giving a $100 gift card to the first 1,000 people to participate at one of two locations (see WPR link below for more details).

The state COVID vaccine incentive program was launched by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Governor Tony Evers. Other states have launched similar initiatives range ranging from direct incentives to college tuition lotteries.
